The repertoire evokes visions of a frosty winter’s eve and year-end celebrations from around the globe. From ancient King Wren songs of the Celtic winter solstice and yuletide reels from Ireland, to tunes of Hannukah, a Hindu spiritual, and a Miles Davis holiday classic, Turtle Island delves into the timeless music that has been an integral part of wintertime festivities for centuries. The program will be announced from the stage and will include selections from the following pieces:

“Christmas Eve” – old Irish reel

Cesta Byla Ušlapaná – 19th century Moravian carol

“Vathapi” – Hindu spiritual (Kirtan)

“Air On A G String/Seven Steps To Heaven” – J.S. Bach/Miles Davis

“Kita Kaira” – Malian peace song

Ha Nerot Halalu” – traditional Hannukah song
